On November 25, Fujian Basketball Association held its eighth member Congress and held a general election. “God of War” Liu Yudong was elected chairman of Fujian Basketball Association. Many people including Gong Songlin, Chairman Wu Bailan of Fujian men’s basketball and Lin Chenyao, founder of RIGORER Sports, were elected as vice chairman of the Basketball Association.

Liu Yudong was born in Putian city, Fujian province in 1970. After the dissolution of Fujian men’s basketball, he once entered the Nanjing Military Region to serve men’s basketball, and then transferred to Bayi men’s basketball.

Liu Yudong is one of the greatest players in the history of CBA. He helped win the National Games Championship on August 1 men’s basketball and won the CBA championship seven times, he is the only player in the history of CBA who has won the three awards of “the most valuable player in the league”, “the most valuable player in the regular season” and “scoring king” in a single season. In 2005, he was named the best player in CBA in the decade.

Liu Yudong helped China win the eighth place in the world championships in men’s basketball in 1994. In 1996, he helped China enter the top eight of the Olympic Games for the first time in men’s basketball history. He himself was also elected as the flag bearer of the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games of the Chinese sports delegation twice.

From 2007 to 2010, Liu Yudong played for the Xunxing, Fujian team in his hometown. After retirement, he became the captain of the Bayi sports team. August 1 men’s basketball officially withdrew from the CBA league in October 202020.
