Live broadcast on November 7 according to the New York Post, Durant said that if NFL Washington commander confirmed the sale, he would be interested in becoming one of its shareholders.
In an interview, Durant said, “I want to be a part of it. I am very happy to do so. I want to put out some money to become a member of the commander. Let’s wait and see. I heard about Bezos and Jay-Z (also bidding).”
Durant also said that he was surprised that Snyder wanted to sell the team. He said: “I mean, how long has he owned this team, more than 20 years? Since I became their fan, he may be the only owner I know. So it was absolutely shocking to see him put the team on the market, because that was his child. The NFL team is very valuable, which is very important.”
“I believe there will be many bidders, because this team is one of the most profitable teams in sports, and everyone wants to be a member of NFL.” Durant added.
The commander will not be the first team that Durant has partial ownership. In 2020, he bought 5% of the shares of MLS’ Philadelphia United and may increase by 5% (Philadelphia United lost to Los Angeles Galaxy in penalty kick in yesterday’s MLS’ final). However, Durant did not hold much hope for the commander. He said that he could not afford as much money as other potential bidders.
According to The Washington Post report on Saturday, Bezos and Jay-Z plan to formally bid for the Washington commander in January. It is reported that the current estimated transaction price will be as high as 7 billion US dollars and will be sold in the next 6 months.
